On Tuesday and Wednesday at SBTS I had the rare privilege of hearing Dr. Graeme Goldsworthy in person. Because of the tremendous help that I’ve received from his writings, Dr. Goldsworthy looms larger than life for me. I have been deeply influenced by his writings in my understanding of the structure of the Bible and the unfolding of the story of the Bible, i.e., Biblical theology. Goldsworthy, who hails from Australia, is in the United States to deliver the prestigious Gheens Lectures at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. It was a great opportunity to be able to attend the lectures on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as a special Q&A luncheon for students on Tuesday. Kudos to Dr. Moore for providing this great treat for the Southern Seminary community. I pray that the impact of Dr. Goldsworthy’s visit will be deep and long-lasting on both the institution and the individuals present. The audio for Tuesday’s lecture is available here, and the rest of the lectures should be posted soon. I am especially interested in today’s lecture (which I didn’t get to stay for, but am eagerly anticipating the audio of) on “Biblical Authority and Its Pastoral Application”.
Graeme Goldsworthy is the author of Gospel and Kingdom (available in the Goldsworthy Trilogy along with Gospel and Wisdom and Gospel and Revelation), According to Plan, Preaching the Whole Bible as Christian Scripture, and Gospel-Centered Hermeneutics.
