Florida Bible Conference, Day Three

In last night’s service, both James Shutt and I preached. I preached the first message from 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 on “God’s Gift of Suffering.” Using an outline which I prepared for a “Youth Sunday” Sunday School lesson when I was sixteen years old (sixteen years ago), I preached on Paul’s experience of suffering and God’s gracious provision.

In the second sermon James Shutt preached a sermon from Philippians 2:1-11 on “The Humiliation and Exaltation of Our Lord Jesus Christ.” It was an excellent Christ-exalting message which included a call for humility in light of Christ’s example.

A highlight of last evening’s service was the opportunity to meet fellow-blogging pastor J. D. Hatfield. His blog called the Voice of Vision is one that my dad is always bragging on to me. When you read J. D.’s posts you will understand why my dad called him “his favorite blogger” last night (much to my chagrin). He seems to be a humble man of God whom God is greatly using. It was great to hear of what God is doing in his ministry as we fellowshipped following the service!
