Today is the day we honor the military personnel who have given their lives in the defense of our freedom. Some question the legitimacy of war in general and the current war in Iraq in particular. Chuck Colson, however, presents an entirely different and in my opinion correct perspective in his Breakpoint cultural commentary today. The transcript of his comments are available online by clicking the title of the article: “Soldiering Justly”. In this commentary Colson gives both a theological basis for freedom and a historical Christian defense of “just war.” Take time to read this today and remember the living soldiers as you honor the memory of those who have given their lives for our freedom.
